Megatron is from the Shattered Glass universe, which means that he is actually the good guy waving the 'freedom for all sentient beings' flag. He actually never set out to be a leader, simply to end the war that he saw destroying the lives of his people and take down the tyrant that would have them all under his heel if he had his way. He and his loyal Decepticons are on a whole selfless for an entirely selfless reason.
And after talking with a friend, to make sure my perception of this was on the right track, they agreed that there is no chance that any black would be found at the base.
